Crisis Numbers — know who to call

About

About Crisis Numbers

Crisis Numbers is a free directory of crisis, suicide-prevention and emotional support phone lines, text services and web chats, organised country by country.

Each country page lists the main national line first, then the alternatives — text lines, youth services, lines for specific communities and, where a country has no national service, the regional or international numbers that still answer. Every number is a tap-to-call link, so on a phone you can reach a person without typing a number out. There is no account, no sign-up, no advertising and no charge, and the site works with a screen reader or on a slow connection.

It is built for anyone who needs to talk to someone now: a person in the middle of a hard night, someone worried about a friend, a parent, a student far from home, a frontline worker looking for the right referral, or a traveller who does not know which numbers work in the country they are in. It is also used by journalists, researchers and helpline staff who need a quick, reliable reference.

Numbers are compiled from official sources — national health services, the helplines themselves, and directories such as Befrienders Worldwide and the International Association for Suicide Prevention — and are reviewed by hand rather than scraped. The directory was last reviewed in full on November 2026. If a number is wrong, out of date or missing, tell us and we will check it against the official source and update the page.

Crisis Numbers is built and maintained by knus Canada Inc., a small independent team in Canada. We are not a helpline, a healthcare provider or a government service, and we do not receive funding from any of the organisations listed. We built the site because finding the right number in a bad moment should take seconds, not a dozen searches across pages that assume you already live in the right country. The interface is available in seven languages, including right-to-left Arabic.
